Both of my random thoughts are related to the briefing in Green v. Brennan, which I previewed for SCOTUSblog earlier this week. First, you don’t see many parent-child combos at the Court, but the counsel of record in an amicus brief on behalf of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund was John Paul Schnapper- Casteras, while J.P.’s father, Eric Schnapper, was counsel of record in an amicus brief on behalf of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Second, I love the (correct — even if the Court doesn’t acknowledge it on the electronic docket) reference by Catherine Carroll, the Court-appointed “friend of the court” defending the Tenth Circuit’s ruling, to herself as an amica curiae. As Septime Webre would say, “brava!”
